Hauling a 11 ft Yamaha WaveRunner Out of a Fargo Yard

Personal watercraft sit in yards until the weeds hide them, then the property owner calls us. A Fargo landlord called about an 11 ft Yamaha WaveRunner in white and light blue. The previous tenant left it parked beside the garage. The landlord needed the yard clear before new renters moved into the house.

The machine sat on a single-axle steel trailer. The winch was rusted into one solid block of iron, and the crank arm broke off when we touched it. We hooked a heavy strap around the trailer frame and used our truck winch to roll the whole rig onto our flatbed trailer. PWC trailers are short, so we had to chock the tires on the bed to keep it from shifting on the road.

We hauled the WaveRunner to our shop, pulled the jet drive engine for spare parts, and salvaged the trailer frame. Our crew took the stripped fiberglass hull to a scrap yard that handles crushed fiberglass. Our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. In our experience, water that sits inside a hull over a North Dakota winter freezes solid, cracking the outer gelcoat and soaking the core structure beneath it. We always pump out remaining fuel and motor oil for proper disposal and pull the battery before hauling the hull to recycling. When the title is available, we take it; if it is missing, we sign a release of liability so the craft is off your name.

Boat removal questions from Fargo owners

Can you take a boat to the junk yard?

Yes, we haul unwanted vessels directly to disposal facilities that accept fiberglass or metal hulls. Our crew handles the loading, transport, and recycling so you do not have to tow an unsafe rig or pay facility dump fees yourself.

What if my boat is on a trailer?

We can tow your trailer or load both the boat and trailer together onto our flatbed truck. If the trailer tires are flat or the axle is rusted through, we bring ramps and winches to haul the whole unit away safely.

Removing boats across Cass County

Crews cover Cass County: West Fargo, Horace, Argusville and Mapleton. June brings many calls from landlords and home buyers who inherit junked craft after the snow melts. Early summer is when people clean out side yards and driveways before the weeds get high.
