The plywood floor was completely rotten and caved in under light foot pressure. That was the main problem our crew faced when an insurance company called us to clear a fenced self-storage lot in Ferry Pass. The boat was a 17-foot Glasspar Seafair 17 runabout with a faded dark green fiberglass hull, a white deck, and an old outboard motor hanging off the back.
To haul the hull safely, we could not step inside to attach straps. Our crew laid two long wood planks across the gunwales to bridge the soft spot and distribute our weight. We reached down from the planks, drained the fluids into containers, and ran wide web straps entirely under the belly of the hull. We then winched the vessel onto our flatbed trailer without risking a cave-in through the bottom.
We took the boat back to our yard, stripped the hardware and motor for salvage, and cut the fiberglass hull into small sections for proper disposal and recycling. For a job this size, our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. Call 833-658-4847 if you need a boat cleared anywhere in Escambia County.

In our experience, strong heat and summer rain quickly destroy neglected wood structures inside old fiberglass hulls. Standing water rots the deck from the inside out while algae spreads across the fiberglass. Before recycling any hull, we always extract the battery and drain all fuel and motor oil to keep hazardous materials out of the ground. When a title is available, we take it over, or we complete a release of liability form to clear the owner.

Two questions we hear on jobs like this
How much does it cost to junk a fiberglass boat?
Boat removal pricing depends mostly on the length of the hull, its location, and the work needed to load it. Smaller runabouts usually fall on our standard per-foot rate sheet. Call us with your boat details, and we will give you a clear price before we start.
What if my boat engine is inoperable?
We haul boats with dead engines, frozen steering lines, or missing drives all the time. Our trucks use heavy winches and custom rigging to load non-running vessels right from trailers, storage yards, or blocks. You do not need to make the motor run for us to tow it away.
Removing boats across Escambia County
Crews cover Escambia County: Pensacola, Century, Gonzalez and Ensley. June brings intense heat, high humidity, and afternoon thunderheads to North Florida. Property managers and boat owners call us around this time of year to dispose of waterlogged hulls before summer storms fill them up and turn them into mosquito breeding grounds.
