Deck boats give you plenty of seating until rain fills the floor and turns the wood into soup. A boat owner in Manitowoc called our crew because his marina staff wanted their slip back, so he hauled his white 19 ft Bayliner 197 Deck home and parked it on the gravel driveway beside his house. The boat sat long enough for the waterline to turn yellow and the deck to go soft.

Our crew arrived to tow the boat away, but the rotten floor would not support a man’s weight without flexing. Walking across it meant risking a foot going straight through into the hull. We laid thick sheets of plywood across the gunwales to bridge the soft spots and distribute our weight. That allowed us to reach the stern, hook up our winch line safely, and guide the fiberglass hull off the block supports onto our trailer without putting pressure on the weak deck.

We hauled the sterndrive boat to our shop, salvaged the usable metal hardware, and cut the rest of the hull for recycling. Our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. If you need boat removal in Manitowoc County, call 833-658-4847.

In our experience, winter freeze and thaw cycles wreck neglected fiberglass craft across Wisconsin. Rain gets under torn covers, fills the hull, and freezes solid, which splits the gelcoat and soaks the core. Before we dispose of any boat, we drain all hazardous materials like fuel and crankcase oil, then remove the battery.

Boat disposal questions

How to get rid of a bad boat?

Call us to haul the hull away directly from your yard, driveway, or slip. Our crew handles the towing, winching, and proper disposal. We strip any scrap metal for recycling and transport the rest to a facility that accepts fiberglass hulls, taking care of all heavy lifting.

Do I need a title to have my boat removed?

Having the original title is the easiest path, but it is not required for us to pull the boat. If the paper title is lost, we sign a release of liability form with you. That paperwork proves you handed the boat over to our disposal crew and removes it from your name.
