Removing a 20 ft Deck Boat From a Monroe Parking Area

This Hurricane SunDeck sat in the shade for five years after the engine quit. A landlord bought the land and needed the parking area cleared out for new tenants. The 20 ft white deck boat had a faded red boot stripe and a dirty floor, but the fiberglass hull remained solid.

The main problem was the missing trailer. The hull rested on weathered cypress blocks and four soft truck tires. Our crew backed a flatbed winching rig right up to the bow, set wide wooden skids beneath the keel, and hooked our heavy strap to the front eye. We kept the pull slow and grease on the skids so the gelcoat would slide without biting into the dirt. Once the hull cleared the blocks, we winched it flat onto the bed and strapped it down at four points.

We took the hull straight to a scrap facility for proper disposal and recycling. The landlord paid a fair rate based on the boat size, since boats over 20 feet get a quick price over the phone based on their size and location. In our experience, June heat and heavy summer rain in northern Louisiana quickly fill open decks and turn old leaves into dense sludge. That extra water weight can crush rotten blocks if a hull sits too long. Before we haul any craft away, our crew drains all fuel tanks, pumps out the engine oil, and removes the battery for proper disposal. We take the title during pickup, or we sign a release of liability so the vessel is off your name.

Two questions we hear on jobs like this

Can you get a boat out of my backyard?

Yes, we pull boats out of backyards, side lots, and tight driveways every week. If a truck cannot reach the hull directly, our crew uses long winch cables, rolling skids, and portable jacks to maneuver the boat into the open without tearing up your lawn.

How much does it cost to junk a fiberglass boat?

The job price depends mostly on the length of the boat, its location, and whether it rests on a working trailer. Smaller hulls on good trailers cost less to haul, while sunken, blocked, or oversized vessels take more crew time and gear to load and transport safely.

Our boat removal crews in Ouachita Parish

Crews cover Ouachita Parish: West Monroe, Sterlington, Richwood and Claiborne. Late spring heat and humidity mean property owners lose patience with decaying hulls taking up space. Landlords and buyers often call us right after closing a deal to clear out old debris before summer storms turn stagnant deck water into a breeding ground for pests.
