Removing a Damaged Deck Boat From a Sylvania Dock

“My neighbor called the city about mosquitoes in my boat,” the owner said. He had a 20 foot Hurricane SunDeck 201 tied to his private lake dock in Sylvania. Rainwater sat inside the tan fiberglass hull for two seasons. Leaves clogged the drains, and the water turned dark brown. The boat owners needed it off the water before the county health inspector stepped in.

Our crew walked out to the slip to inspect the hull. The soft floor was completely rotten, so walking inside meant falling through to the bottom of the boat. We laid thick wooden planks across the sides of the deck to spread our weight. We hooked our pump hose into the lowest part of the deck to drain forty gallons of foul water into containment drums. Once the hull was light, we floated it onto our bunk trailer and winched it up clear of the dock.

We brought the craft to our shop to strip the outboard and hand off the metal to a local scrap recycler. We cleaned the trailer frame so it could be reused. Boats over 20 feet are priced over the phone, because size and setting change the work. If you need boat removal in Sylvania or Lucas County, give us a call at 833-658-4847.

In our experience, water trapped inside a hull during the northern winter freezes and expands. That ice cracks the top gelcoat layer and turns interior floor panels into mush by late spring. Before any boat goes to recycling, our crew drains all remaining fuel and motor oil into approved catch tanks and removes the battery.

What people ask before a boat leaves

Can you remove a boat without a title?

Yes, we can handle the boat removal even if you mislaid the paperwork. When a title is missing, our crew provides a release of liability form for you to sign. That document officially transfers the craft to us and keeps your record clear.

Can you scrap a boat at a scrap yard?

Metal yards will not take a fiberglass hull off your hands. They only accept the aluminum trim, stainless hardware, and clean engine blocks. We tow the entire vessel to our yard, strip those salvageable metals, and take the raw fiberglass to a landfill that accepts it.

Junk boat removal across Lucas County

Crews cover Lucas County: Toledo, Oregon, Maumee and Waterville. Early summer storms in northern Ohio fill open cockpits quickly. Uncovered hulls sitting in backyard slips draw complaints from neighbors when mosquitoes start breeding in stagnant water.
