Hauling a Written-Off Sea-Doo in San Carlos, CA

“The insurance company wrote it off, so it needs to go.” That is what the homeowner told us when he called from San Carlos. His 11 ft white Sea-Doo GTI had a red boot stripe and sat on a small steel trailer in the side yard next to his garage. He wanted the jet drive personal watercraft cleared out before the weekend.

The alley out of the side yard was tight. Tree limbs hung low overhead, and a power line crossed right above the single gate. Our crew rolled the trailer by hand instead of backing a truck into the gap. We lowered the tire pressure slightly to drop the trailer height an inch, gave the hull two thick wool blankets to protect the fiberglass, and guided the jet ski under the lines without brushing a branch.

Once out in the driveway, we hitched the rig to our truck. We took the Sea-Doo to a regional repair yard that buys sound fiberglass hulls for parts and rebuilds. Our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. If you have an unwanted vessel in San Mateo County, call us at 833-658-4847.

In our experience, dry California sun bakes rubber tires until they crack, making old boat trailers tricky to roll smoothly. Before we tow or haul any craft for disposal, we pump out the remaining fuel, drain the crankcase oil, and pull the battery for safe handling. We take the title when you have one, or we sign a release of liability so the vessel is off your name.

Before you call: two common questions

How to get rid of a bad boat?

Call our crew to haul the vessel directly from your yard, driveway, or storage space. We winch the boat onto our flatbed trailer, pull hazardous materials out of the hull, and transport it to a proper disposal or recycling facility for you.

How much does it cost to junk a fiberglass boat?

We price each job by the overall length of the vessel and the work needed to load it. A small runabout or jet ski on a working trailer costs less to tow away than a large hull stranded on blocks without wheels.

Crews cover San Mateo County: Redwood City, Pacifica, San Mateo and Woodside. Early summer sun quickly dries out old upholstery and sealant on yard-stored craft. Local homeowners often reach out to clear unused personal watercraft off their properties before hot weather turns old fuel stale and damages sitting hulls.
