Pulling a 26 ft Sailboat From an Old Jamestown Yard

Both trailer tires were flat, split open, and cracked down to the steel cords. The black 26 ft MacGregor sailboat sat on that ruined rig in a muddy yard in Old Jamestown, MO after heavy spring rain. A landlord called us because he needed the whole property cleared for new tenants. The silver stripe on the fiberglass hull was faded, and the vessel had sat forgotten for years.

Our crew backed our truck into the soft lawn and used heavy timber mats to keep from sinking. We jacked up the trailer axle by axle, pulled off the ruined wheels, and bolted on standard spare assemblies from our service truck. Once the rig could roll, we hooked up our winch line and pulled it slowly onto our flatbed. We always check the winch cable for fraying under heavy pulls on wet ground.

We hauled the MacGregor back to our shop to strip the aluminum deck hardware for recycling. Our crew cut up the fiberglass hull and brought the pieces to a landfill that takes them. Boats over 20 feet are priced over the phone, because size and setting change the work. If you need boat removal in St. Louis County, call us at 833-658-4847.

In our experience, humid summers and wet springs in Missouri rust out trailer frames quickly and turn sitting yards into deep mud. Standing water inside a hull leads to heavy mildew and rot. Before any hull goes to a landfill, our crew drains all leftover fuel and engine oil into sealable containers and removes the battery for proper disposal.

The boat, the place, the outcome

This is an illustrative case built from the kind of work we do in St. Louis County, not a record of one customer’s job. The photos are illustrative as well.

What Old Jamestown boat owners ask us

Can you remove a boat without a title?

Yes, we can take your boat even if you do not have the paper title. Our crew provides a release of liability form for you to sign. This paperwork documents that you turned the vessel over to us, so it is officially off your name.

Is my old boat worth anything?

Most old, degraded boats cost more to haul and dispose of than their parts are worth. Fiberglass has no scrap value, and recycling a worn hull takes hand labor. Metals like aluminum rails help offset a tiny part of the work, but old hulls rarely bring cash back to boat owners.

Removing boats across St. Louis County

Crews cover St. Louis County: Wildwood, Chesterfield, Maryland Heights and Hazelwood. Early summer brings a steady wave of cleanout requests across the area. Landlords and buyers frequently find forgotten vessels hidden behind barns, stuck in high grass, or sinking into wet topsoil after months of rain.
