Hauling an Old Ski Nautique Out of Black Forest, CO

This 1990s Ski Nautique 196 pulled skiers for many seasons before it was parked. The twenty-foot fiberglass hull sat in the corner of a farm field until standing rain water brought a neighbor complaint about mosquitoes. The owner wanted the white and blue inboard gone before county inspectors arrived.

Our crew backed our truck down the dirt lane to load it. The boat sat on a dual-axle trailer with a steel tongue completely rusted through at the frame bend. Trying to tow it directly would have snapped the hitch point. We jacked up the front, slid heavy wooden cribbing under the frame, and strapped steel channel sleeves over the break to create a temporary tow bridge.

Once stabilized, we winched the rig slowly onto our flatbed trailer for safe haul out. We drained the fuel and fluids at our yard, cut up the hull, and hauled the fiberglass pieces to a landfill that takes them. The metal engine parts and trailer frame went to metal recycling. Boats over 20 feet are priced over the phone, because size and setting change the work. Call 833-658-4847 for boat removal in Black Forest or El Paso County.

In our experience, mountain sun and cold winters wreck boats sitting out in open pastures. High elevation UV bakes clear coats, while spring rains fill covered hulls and create mosquito breeding grounds. Before any hull goes to proper disposal, our crew drains all remaining gas, motor oil, and gear oil, then pulls the battery.

Two questions we hear on jobs like this

Do I need a title to have my boat removed?

No, you do not always need a title for boat removal. If you have the state title, we take it from you during pickup. If the paperwork was lost over the years, we have you sign a release of liability form so the vessel is officially off your name.

What happens to my boat after removal?

We take every vessel to our yard for dismantling and fluid recovery. Hazardous materials like oil, gas, and batteries are separated first. We harvest clean aluminum and steel for recycling, then break down the remaining fiberglass hull to dispose of it responsibly at an approved landfill.

Where our crews work around Black Forest

Crews cover El Paso County: Colorado Springs, Fountain, Monument and Manitou Springs. Early summer brings a surge in calls as property owners clear out junk hulls before dry winds and hot weather set in. Sun exposure in this region weakens bare fiberglass quickly, turning abandoned ski boats into unwanted eyesores on rural land.
