Removing a 16 ft Starcraft in New Castle, PA

Neighbors in a New Castle apartment complex do not like standing water full of mosquito larvae. A tenant had a 16 ft white Starcraft Superfisherman 160 sitting on a trailer in the parking lot. Rain collected inside the riveted aluminum hull, the neighbors called the front office, and the property management told the boat owner to move it.

The floor inside the hull was completely rotten and would not hold a person’s weight. Stepping onto it meant falling through to the bottom metal. Our crew brought heavy plywood sheets to lay across the gunwales so we had a solid bridge to stand on while we hooked up winches. We strapped the aluminum hull securely to our trailer without ever putting a foot on the weak wood floor.

We towed the rig away for recycling. Our crew removed the outboard motor and salvaged the steel trailer, then hauled the empty metal hull to a scrap yard where it was crushed. Our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. Call 833-658-4847 for boat removal in Lawrence County.

In our experience, water left inside an open hull causes deep structural damage during winter freeze and thaw cycles. Ice expands, splits seams, and destroys wood floors long before summer arrives. Before any recycling takes place, we pull the battery, drain the gas tank, and remove all oil from the outboard engine so hazardous materials do not leak.

Questions from the phone this week

Do I need a title to have my boat removed?

No, a title makes the process simple, but we can clear the vessel without one. When you do not have the title, our crew signs a release of liability with you so the boat is officially off your name.

How much does it cost to remove a boat?

The price depends on the length of the vessel, its location, and whether it is on a working trailer. We measure the hull from bow to stern and look at access before giving you a price quote for the job.

Boat disposal across Lawrence County

Crews cover Lawrence County: New Beaver, Bessemer, New Wilmington and Wampum. Late spring and early summer rain fills untended hulls parked in residential lots across Western Pennsylvania. Owners call us when property managers start issuing notices over sitting water and pests.
