Hauling a 16 ft Crestliner Fishing Boat in Rye Brook

The owner tried posting the old Crestliner on public boards for weeks, but no one wanted to move a hull with no wheels. He was moving out of state and needed the 16 ft dark green aluminum boat off the apartment lot. The white deck was covered in dirt, and the outboard motor was frozen in place. He called us to clear the spot before his lease ended.

The hull sat flat on wooden blocks and old car tires. Without a trailer under it, we could not simply hook up and tow. Our crew set hydraulic bottle jacks under the main aluminum seams to lift the hull six inches off the rubber. We slid heavy plastic skids beneath the bottom of the boat so it would slide cleanly across the asphalt without leaving gouges on the pavement. Once aligned, we winched the hull directly onto our flatbed.

We removed the outboard motor to be rebuilt and resold for parts. The rest of the aluminum hull went to a metal recycling yard to keep it out of a landfill. For a job like this, our price sheet lists boats under 20 feet at about $75 a foot. Call 833-658-4847 if you need boat removal in Rye Brook or anywhere in Westchester County.

As a rule, we find that boats left on blocks collect rainwater that ruins the floor quickly. Cold northern winters make that trapped water freeze and split the seams. Before any hull goes for recycling, we drain all hazardous materials like oil and fuel and pull the battery. We take the title, or we sign a release of liability so the boat is off your name.

What Rye Brook boat owners ask us

What happens to my boat after removal?

We inspect every boat to see what can be saved. Useful motors and metal parts go to salvage yards or buyers for re-use. Clean aluminum or steel hulls go to a metal recycling yard, while non-recyclable fiberglass goes to a facility cleared for proper disposal.

Is my old boat worth anything?

Most old hulls left in storage have little market value because repairs cost more than the boat is worth. An outboard motor might have value for parts if the block is not cracked. We evaluate the boat and give you a price to haul it away.

Boat removal throughout Westchester County

Crews cover Westchester County: Yonkers, Harrison, New Rochelle and White Plains. Summer moves across this area bring many calls from boat owners who sold a home but left an old hull behind. Warm weather makes it easier to haul heavy hulls before seasonal rain builds up inside the deck.

If a boat like this is taking up space in Rye Brook, call 833-658-4847. Tell us the length and where it sits.
