Pulling a 20 ft Malibu From a Muddy West St. Paul Yard

The June sun was baking the mud when we arrived in West St. Paul. Recent spring rains had turned the back yard into soft soup, and the ground was holding onto every drop. The homeowner was listing his property for sale that week and needed an old burgundy and white 20 ft Malibu Response ski boat moved out of the way fast.

The fiberglass inboard sat on a dual-axle trailer with all four tires flat and cracked down to the cords. Rolling it across soft grass was impossible. Our crew jacked up the axles one by one and mounted four temporary transport wheels from our service truck. We laid heavy rubber traction mats in a line straight to the driveway. We hooked our winch cable to the trailer tongue and pulled the entire rig out without digging deep ruts into the lawn.

Since the fiberglass hull was still sound, we hauled the Malibu directly to a repair yard that buys restorable ski boats for parts and salvage. Disposal fees depend on length and access, so boats over 20 feet are priced over the phone because size and setting change the work. If you have an unwanted boat taking up space in Dakota County, call us at 833-658-4847.

In our experience, harsh winter freeze and thaw cycles wreck fiberglass when trapped water freezes, splits the gelcoat, and rots internal wood. Heavy snow loads also crush covers and allow rain to sit in the floor. Before any hull goes for proper disposal or recycling, our crew pumps out all remaining fuel, drains the crankcase oil, and safely removes the battery.

Before you call: two common questions

How much does it cost to junk a fiberglass boat?

We price each boat removal job by the length of the boat, its location, and how hard it is to reach. Boats sitting on good trailers cost less to haul than submerged hulls or crushed frames. Call us for a clear price based on your boat.

Do I need a title to have my boat removed?

Having the title makes the process faster, but you can still get rid of the boat without one. When a title is missing, we bring a state a release of liability for boat owners to sign. That document proves you gave up ownership and keeps you clear.

Boat removal throughout Dakota County

Crews cover Dakota County: Lakeville, Rosemount, Eagan and Inver Grove Heights. In early summer, late spring rains wash out unpaved driveways and leave abandoned hulls stuck in heavy soil. Homeowners clearing out properties before summer sales regularly call us to haul away old ski boats and runabouts before buyers view the lot.
