Hauling a 14 ft Jon Boat From a Kirkland Driveway

A Kirkland landlord called us to clear an old boat left on his rental property. The previous tenant moved out and left a 14 ft burgundy and white Tracker Grizzly jon boat parked beside the house. The aluminum hull sat on a flat tire trailer with a small outboard motor attached.

The driveway had a sharp incline that dropped straight onto a narrow residential street. Our crew backed our haul rig up the slope and set heavy wheel chocks before doing anything else. We hooked a hand winch to the trailer frame to keep it from rolling backward down the hill. We pumped air into the flat tire so it would roll, controlled the descent with our winch, and pulled the unit onto our flatbed trailer.

We took the jon boat to a marine repair yard because the metal hull was in good shape. Smaller boats under 20 feet run about $75 a foot on our standard rate sheet. If you have an unwanted vessel in Kirkland or King County, call us at 833-658-4847.

In our experience, damp Washington weather makes outdoor storage hard on equipment. Moss builds up on decks, and trailers rust from the underside where water pools. Before we take any vessel for recycling, our crew strips the battery and drains all fuel, oil, and hazardous materials. We also handle the paperwork by taking the title or having you sign a release of liability so the craft is off your name.

What people ask before a boat leaves

What if my boat is on a trailer?

We tow the boat and trailer together as one unit. Our crew checks the tires, lights, and wheel bearings before we haul it away. If the trailer is too rusted to roll down the road, we load both the vessel and the trailer directly onto our flatbed truck.

What happens to my boat after removal?

We check every hull to see if it can be saved. Sound hulls go to marine yards for reuse or resale. Unusable fiberglass or metal craft go to a local facility for proper disposal, salvage of good metal, and recycling after we drain all fluids and remove the battery.

Boat disposal across King County

Crews cover King County: Seattle, Kent, Bellevue and Renton. June brings dry weather, so property owners across the region start spring yard cleanups. Landlords frequently reach out to us during this season to clear abandoned craft, cleared structures, and old trailers left behind by former tenants.
